DETROIT -- The Red Wings mourn the passing of Carol Belisle, 79, wife of former Wings scout and assistant coach Dan Belisle.
Carol passed early Friday morning in Sarasota, Florida following a two-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dan, and three children, Debra, Dan Jr. and Dee.
“Carol fought a very courageous two-year battle with cancer,” said Red Wings senior vice president Jim Devellano. “Her husband Danny and her three children were at her side as she passed away peacefully at home. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dan and his family.”
Details of a memorial service are to be announced.
Dan Belisle retired from the Red Wings in 2005 following 22 years with the club including 17 as an NHL Scout and five as an Assistant Coach. He was the head coach of the Washington Capitals for two seasons (1978-79 and 1979-80), played four NHL games as a right wing for the New York Rangers in 1960-61 and 15 years in the minor leagues.
