Facts and figures from Game 2
DETROIT -- A few of the pertinent numbers from Detroit's 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals on Sunday night.

8 -- Times in his 18 playoff appearances this spring that Detroit's Chris Osgood has allowed one goal or less. That includes Games 1 and 2 in the finals, in which he allowed one goal in consecutive 3-1 victories.

0 -- Players on the Red Wings who had a minus rating in Game 2. Fifteen Wings were plus-1, and Pittsburgh's only goal was scored on the power play. The Penguins had no plus players.

1 -- Wins by Detroit when trailing after one period. The Wings had lost both games this spring in which they trailed after the opening 20 minutes, but won on Sunday night despite trailing 1-0 after the first period.

2 -- Goals in the Final by Detroit rookie Justin Abdelkader, who scored the third goal in Games 1 and 2. Abdelkader has yet to score a regular-season goal.

2 - Points by Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom, who assisted on each of the Wings' last two goals in Game 2. Prior to that, he had only one point (an assist against Chicago in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals) in his previous 13 games.

4 -- Times in their 18 playoff games this spring that the Red Wings have been outshot -- but they've won all four games, including Games 1 and 2 against Pittsburgh. In the 14 games in which they've outshot their opponents, the Wings are 10-4.

5 -- Shots on goal by Sidney Crosby, who has yet to get a goal or an assist in the first two games of the final. Crosby won 10 of 15 draws in Game 2 and was much better than he was in Game 1, when he managed only two shots and lost 14 of 20 faceoffs.

6 -- Total power plays in the first two games of this year's final. Pittsburgh is 1-for-3 after scoring on its lone chance Sunday night. Detroit was 0-for-2 after going 0-for-1 in Game 1.

7 -- Hits by Detroit center Darren Helm, the most by any player on either team for the second night in a row. Chris Kunitz led Pittsburgh with five.

8 -- Times in his 18 playoff appearances this spring that Detroit's Chris Osgood has allowed one goal or less. That includes Games 1 and 2 in the final, in which he allowed one goal in consecutive 3-1 victories.

9 -- Victories by the Red Wings in this year's playoffs in games decided by more than one goal. The Wings are 2-0 in two-goal games and 7-0 when the margin is three or more goals. The Wings are just 5-4 in one-goal games.

10 – Wins at Joe Louis Arena by the Red Wings this spring, in 11 games. The Wings' only loss was a 4-3 triple-overtime victory by Anaheim in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

11 -- Games in this year's playoffs that the Red Wings have led after two periods. They've won all 11.

24 -- Faceoffs lost by Pittsburgh center Jordan Staal in the first two games of the Final, against only nine wins. Staal was 6-of-19 in Game 1 and only 3-of-15 in Game 2. Detroit center Darren Helm was 9-2 against Staal in Game 2 after going 13-4 against him in Game 1 on Saturday.

27 -- Faceoffs won by Pittsburgh, compared with 24 for Detroit. It was a huge turnaround from Game 1, in which Detroit won 39 draws to just 16 for the Penguins.

31 -- Saves by Detroit's Chris Osgood in each of the first two games of the final. He faced 32 shots both nights.

Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Final Gear33 -- Times that a team has won the first two games of the Stanley Cup finals, including Detroit against Pittsburgh in each of the last two springs. Of the previous 32, only the 1971 Chicago Blackhawks failed to win the Stanley Cup.

38 -- Games in the Final worked by referee Bill McCreary, who worked with Mark Joannette in Game 2. McCreary has worked more games in the Stanley Cup Final than any referee in NHL history except Hall of Famer Bill Chadwick, who worked 42.

73 -- Career playoff victories for Osgood, including Game 2. He passed Jacques Plante (71) for eighth place on the all-time list Saturday night. Next up: Mike Vernon, who finished his career with 77 and led Detroit to the 1997 Cup -- with Osgood as his backup.
