DETROIT – Red Wings’ season-ticket holders have until August 4 to celebrate an early Christmas.

Season-ticket holders have until the August deadline to take advantage of the loyalty-based pricing and avoid any price increases. By renewing season-ticket accounts, with at least a payment of 25 percent of the total cost, season-ticket holders can lock in at last season's prices. This payment will guarantee last season’s prices for 90 percent of season-ticket holders.

"Season-ticket holders have been locking into last year's prices for their 2008-09 season tickets since we introduced 'pay as the Wings play' for the 2008 playoffs," said Steve Violetta, senior vice-president of Business Affairs. "We are delighted to extend that offer to Aug. 4, as well as roll out several new benefits which are outlined in their renewal package."

Since winning the Stanley Cup in June, the Red Wings have greatly improved the benefit packages for season-ticket holders, and even lowered the price on approximately 10 percent of seats in the upper bowl.

The upper bowl seats affected by the price decrease are located in five rows behind the nets between Sections 203c to 226a. The rows affected are 11-12 (from $54 to $44) and 18-21 ($44 to $33).

After Aug. 4, prices for the majority of season-ticket holders and tickets purchased at the box office will increase by $2 (see chart below).

The Wings are confident that fans will enjoy the new NHL scheduling for the upcoming 2008-09 season, which includes games against all 15 Eastern Conference teams, while reducing the number of games against Central Division opponents to six.

The team has also raised prices on about 400 seats that make up the first three rows behind the glass. Those tickets, $85 last season, will rise to $125 for rows 0 and 1 and to $100 for Row 2. But those increases won't affect season-ticket holders who renew by Aug. 4.

There are five easy ways to pay:
