DETROIT -- The Red Wings will honor veterans when the Wings take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 11 at Joe Louis Arena.  Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Red Wings Veterans Day lapel pin.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

In honor of Veterans Day, Tuesday’s game will be opened by an Honor Guard with the United States Air Force from Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The Detroit Red Wings Foundation will be on hand to hold its first fundraising 50/50 raffle with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund. Fans can purchase three raffle tickets for just $5.

Only 500 tickets remain for the much anticipated rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup finals between the Wings and Penguins. Tuesday’s contest will be the teams’ first meeting since last season’s Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals.  It is also Red Wings forward Marian Hossa’s first game against his former teammates.

Season ticket packages, “Steve Yzerman 19-Game Packages”, “Gordie Howe 9-Game Packages” and single-game tickets for the entire 2008-09 season are currently available at the Joe Louis Arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations, including The Hockeytown Café, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, or by phone at 248-645-6666.  Fans also can purchase tickets by logging on to www.DetroitRedWings.com.

Mike Ilitch, Red Wings owner, Little Caesars chairman and founder, and U.S. Marine continues his support of veterans year-round with the Little Caesars Veterans Program.  The program provides business opportunities to veterans as they transition to civilian life or seek a career change. It offers honorably discharged service-disabled veterans who qualify as Little Caesars franchisees a benefit of up to approximately $68,000. The benefit for honorably discharged non-service-disabled veterans who qualify as Little Caesars franchisees is up to approximately $20,000.
