Wings-Hawks to play first of home-and-home

DETROIT -- The Red Wings close out their home schedule for 2008 next Tuesday when they host the Chicago Blackhawks in what will be the 700th regular-season meeting between these Original Six rivals.
The Wings have compiled a 354-254-91 record against the Blackhawks.
The Wings and Blackhawks have played twice this season, with Detroit winning both previous games in shoot-outs on Oct. 25 at the United Center, and Dec. 6 at Joe Louis Arena.
In the last 10 meetings, the Wings are 5-4-1 against the Blackhawks, and are winners of five of the last six games by a combined score of 23-18. In that time, the Red Wings' offense has been paced by forwards Jiri Hudler (4-8--12) and Henrik Zetterberg (5-6--11).
The Wings and 'Hawks will finish their home-and-home series when the two meet on New Year's Day in the NHL's second annual Winter Classic at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
