Red Wings shoot for 50-50-50-50
DETROIT -- The Red Wings are on the brink of their 50th win of the season as the Wings square off against the New York Islanders at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the Nashville Predators at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Joe Louis Arena (FOX Sports Detroit & 97.1 The Ticket). One more win will give Detroit its sixth 50-win season in franchise history and its fourth consecutive 50-win season, marking only the third time in NHL history a team has gone four straight years with 50-wins (Boston and Montreal).

The Wings’ next win will make Mike Babcock the first head coach in NHL history with four consecutive 50-win seasons since Scotty Bowman (Montreal, 1975/76 – 1978/79), also making Babcock the first coach in NHL history to win four consecutive 50-win seasons in each of his first four years with a team.

As the Red Wings shoot for their 50th win, 50/50 drawings will be held both Friday and Sunday benefiting the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and partner beneficiaries the Macomb Oakland Regional Center (MORC) Stars and the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS) .Tickets are 3 for $5 or 6 for $10 and are available for purchase on the Joe Louis Arena concourse through the start of the second period at each game.

Both games this weekend are SOLD OUT but a limited number of tickets remain for April 2 (St. Louis), 5 (Minnesota), and 9 (Nashville). Tickets are available at the Joe Louis Arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations, including Hockeytown Cafe, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Mich., or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Fans also can purchase tickets by logging on to www.DetroitRedWings.com.

WINGS CAN MAKE IT EIGHT STRAIGHT: With their next win (or regulation loss by Chicago), the Wings can lock up the Central Division crown for the eighth consecutive season, and their 12th title in the last 15 seasons. With Tuesday's win in Edmonton, the Wings ensured that they will not finish lower than fourth in the Western Conference, marking the 17th consecutive season Detroit will be a top-4 seed in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
