DETROIT – East meets West when the high-flying Washington Capitals invade the Joe Louis Arena for an inter-conference match-up with the Red Wings this Saturday.
Fans can purchase tickets by clicking HERE, by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000, and at the Joe Louis Arena box office, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Mich., and Hockeytown Cafe.
Entering this week, the Capitals have the top four scorers in the NHL, led by two-time defending Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin (six points), and forwards Nicklas Backstrom, Brooks Laich and Alexander Semin (five points each).
New to the Caps’ roster this season is a pair of familiar faces to Red Wings’ fans – former Wings forward Mike Knuble and Brendan Morrison, who played at the University of Michigan (1993-97).
The Wings and Caps played once last season with Washington posting a 4-2 win before its home crowd at the Verizon Center on Jan. 31. In that game, Wings forward Ville Leino made his NHL debut and scored a fancy, highlight reel-type goal against goalie Jose Theodore.
Since the Caps joined the NHL, the Red Wings have compiled an overall record of 43-37-16 against them, including a 22-15-11 mark at JLA.
