Red Wings are mad for mittens
DETROIT -- The Red Wings are helping to prevent frostbite and keep residents warm with the 15th annual “Motor City Mitten Madness” clothing collection. Together with the Detroit Receiving Hospital Burn Center, the Wings are asking fans attending the final home game of November and first home game of December to support the cause by donating items to keep local residents in need warm.

The collections will take place at Red Wings games on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3 at Joe Louis Arena. Fans attending Detroit’s home games on those days against the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers, respectively, are asked to bring clean, new and used blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and other winter wear items to collection bins at Joe Louis Arena. The clothing will be distributed to Detroit area shelters and warming centers to aid in the prevention of frostbite among the homeless. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Each donor at the two games will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win autographed Red Wings memorabilia. One winner will be announced at each game and must be present to win.
