DETROIT -- Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson will be out of the Detroit lineup indefinitely after suffering a significant bone bruise to his left knee during last night’s 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes at Joe Louis Arena.
Ericsson, 25, was injured in a first period collision with Coyotes forward Shane Doan deep inside the Red Wings' zone. Ericsson left the game -- needing to be helped from the ice by teammates Pavel Datsyuk and Brian Rafalski -- and did not return.
Further tests performed after last night’s game revealed no ligament damage to his left knee.
