Defeseman returns to Detroit for second stint of season

DETROIT -- The Red Wings announced today that defenseman Doug Janik has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
Janik, 29, will be inserted into Detroit’s lineup in time for Thursday's home game when the Red Wings host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Agawam, Mass., native will be making his second appearance with the Red Wings this season. He played for Detroit on Nov. 3 vs. Boston, finishing with an even plus/minus rating in 13:56 of ice time.
In 162 career NHL games, Janik has 16 points and 123 penalty minutes.
Janik has appeared in 27 games for Grand Rapids this season, recording three goals and 12 assists with 38 penalty minutes.
