Michigan claims CCHA title

DETROIT -- The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Northern Michigan Wildcats 2-1 to claim the Mason Cup and 2010 CCHA Championship title tonight at Joe Louis Arena.
The victory marks Michigan’s ninth CCHA Championship title, granting them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In the Third Place game played earlier, the Miami RedHawks defeated the Ferris State Bulldogs 2-1.
Honored with CCHA Championship All-Tournament team recognition were forwards Louie Caporusso (Michigan), Carl Hagelin (Michigan) and Ray Kaunisto (Northern Michigan), defensemen Steve Kampfer (Michigan) and Erik Gustafsson (Northern Michigan), and goaltender Shawn Hunwick (Michigan). Hunwick also earned All-Tournament MVP honors.
College Hockey At The Joe returns for the 2010-11 season with three action-packed events including: the 46th Annual Great Lakes Invitational December 29-30, 2010, Michigan versus Michigan State January 29, 2011 and the CCHA Championship March 18-19, 2011.
