  By The Numbers highlights  the Detroit Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2009-10 season. Each week, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on center Pavel Datsyuk.


The number of takeaways that Datsyuk had to lead the league in that category. It is the third time in four seasons that he has led the league in takeaways.


The number of career multi-point games, reached in the Wings’ 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville. Datsyuk had a goal and an assist that night capping the third straight multi-point game for the Wings center. 

Points recorded over the last 31 games of the regular-season when the Wings compiled a 19-6-6 mark, helping them to a No. 5 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.


Career game played on March 30 against the Edmonton Oilers. In that game, a 5-4 win for the Wings, Datsyuk had two assists with a +1 rating.


The number of times that Datsyuk has either led or tied for the team lead in scoring. It is the longest streak in franchise history. He finished the year with 70 points, including 27 goals.

The number of regular-season games that Datsyuk missed. He sat out back-to-back games with an unspecified upper-body injury suffered in the Wings’ 6-2 loss at Buffalo on Oct. 13.
