By The Numbers highlights  the Detroit Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2009-10 season. Each week, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Tomas Holmstrom.

Career goal scored on December 5, 2009 against the New Jersey Devils. With 30-seconds left in the second period, Holmstrom tipped in a shot from the point by defenseman Brad Stuart. The goal trimmed the Wings’ deficit to 3-2.

Collected the Wings’ single game-high for assists on April 3, 2010 against the Nashville Predators. His third assist helped the Wings force overtime with 37-seconds left in regulation.

His number of multi-point games recorded with a pair of goals on April 7, 2010 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. His two goals on three shots lifted the Red Wings to a 4-3 victory in the home season-finale at Joe Louis Arena.

Career power-play goal scored in March 26, 2010 against the Minnesota Wild. Holmstrom had a goal – his 13th power-play tally of the season – and an assist in the Wings’ 6-2 win at Joe Louis Arena.

Season-long shooting percentage – scoring 25 goals on 131 shots – which led the Red Wings, and was good enough for third overall in the league, behind Minnesota’s Andrew Brunette (19.4) and Washington’s Mike Knuble (19.2).
The additional games that he played in 2009-10 versus the previous season. The game increase resulted in much more productivity for Holmstrom, who managed to increase his goals (by 11), points (8), penalty minutes (22), power-play points (10), and game-winning goals (4).
