By The Numbers highlights  the Detroit Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2009-10 season. Each week, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Patrick Eaves.

Career point scored on December 17, 2009 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Eaves scored the final goal in the Wings’ 3-0 victory at Joe Louis Arena.Career

Career game played on March 27, 2010 against the Nashville Predators. Eaves had three shots on goal in the Wings’ 1-0 shootout loss at Joe Louis Arena. He also missed on a shootout attempt against Preds goalie Pekka Rinne.

The number of season-high, two-game points streaks that Eaves had during the 2009-10 season. The Red Wings posted a 9-0-1 record in the games associated with Eaves’ streaks.

Eaves scored 55 percent of his points in the third period, collecting six goals and six assists in the final 20-minutes. His third-period shooting percentage also leapt expedientially to .182 percent (6-of-33).

The point increase that he had as a Red Wing in 2009-10 over the previous season in Carolina. Eaves managed to double his goal output to 12 with the Red Wings. He also had two more assists in Detroit than he did with the Hurricanes.

Number of fighting majors recorded this season, doubling his previous single-season output. Eaves battled with Chicago’s Kris Versteeg (Jan. 17) and Columbus’s Derek Dorsett (Apr. 7). According to, Eaves posted a 1-1 season record.
