By The Numbers highlights  the Detroit Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2009-10 season. Each week, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Niklas Kronwall.

Career game played on March 26, 2010 against the Minnesota Wild. Kronwall assisted on Jonathan Ericsson’s shorthanded game-winner midway through the second period of a 6-2 victory at Joe Louis Arena.

Games missed with a sprained knee injury suffered from a leg-on-leg hit from Montreal’s Georges Laraque. Kronwall returned a month later and logged more than 21-minutes in a 5-4 overtime loss to Phoenix.

Finished tied for first in the NHL with four shorthanded assists. All four assists came in victories during the month of March when the Red Wings posted a 12-2-1 record.

Tied his career-best for goals in a single season. Kronwall also scored seven goals during the Red Wings’ last Stanley Cup season, though he did so back then in 17 more games than last season.

Season-high consecutive point streak from Nov. 11-14, 2009. Kronwall collected seven points during a three-game Wings’ winning streak over Columbus (2-1—3), Vancouver (1-1—2), and Anaheim (0-2—2).

Shootout success rate during the regular-season. Kronwall (1-for-2) was called upon twice to contribute in the shootout last season. In his first career attempt, Kronwall slipped a backhander through the pads of Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne, giving the Wings a 1-0 victory on March 27.
