Wings host military at morning skate
DETROIT -- The Red Wings will commemorate Veterans Day by hosting 50 military veterans and active members on leave plus their guests at the Red Wings morning skate at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 11.

The Red Wings will face off against Edmonton later that day at 7:30 p.m. (FOX Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket). As part of the Red Wings’ annual Military Appreciation Night, fans are encouraged to bring care package items and monetary donations to be sent to soldiers currently serving overseas. For each donation, fans will be entered into a drawing to win an autographed Mike Modano jersey.

In addition, fans can pick up a prepaid envelope at each entrance to participate in the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, which encourages people to send in their previously used cell phones. The donated cell phones are then recycled and the proceeds are used to purchase prepaid calling cards for American soldiers.
