Osgood undergoes successful surgery
DETROIT -- Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood today underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia, Pa.
Osgood had been bothered by a groin injury since late October. He missed all 13 games during the month of November before returning Dec. 3 at Anaheim. Osgood has a 5-3-2 record this season with a 2.77 goals-against average. He's expected to be out of the lineup for six to eight weeks.
