By Rick Bowness  - Public Relations Coordinator
DETROIT -- The Red Wings and New York Rangers are set to meet in a National Hockey League regular season game for the 574th time this coming Monday, February 7 (puck drop - 7:30 p.m. EST on 97.1 The Ticket and VERSUS) at Joe Louis Arena, with Detroit seeking to improve their all-time record versus New York to 261-210-103-0. Designated an Upper Deck Original Six Night, the first 10,000 fans in attendance at this almost-sold-out match will receive a free classic/current trading card set featuring past and present members of both the Red Wings and Rangers compliments of The Upper Deck Company, LLC.

Monday’s limited-edition trading card set will include current Detroit players Brian Rafalski and Valtteri Filppula as well as legendary stars from Hockeytown of yesteryear Syd Howe and Terry Sawchuk. New York players featured in the set will include the franchise’s all-time leading scorer Rod Gilbert in addition to multiple-time NHL All-Star Game participants Marion Gaborik and Henrik Lundqvist.

A special card commemorating the decade-long feud between enforcers Bob Probert and Tie Domi will also be included in Monday’s collectable set, complete with artwork depicting one of the countless bouts the rugged forwards engaged in during an epic rivalry which enthralled hockey fans across North America throughout its duration. Furthermore, each set of cards comes complete with a special 25 percent discount code that can be used for online purchases made at www.UpperDeckStore.com.

In addition to Upper Deck’s exciting giveaway promotion, fans attending Monday’s showdown at JLA will be treated to a special Original Six opening video narrated by Red Wings alumnus Mickey Redmond. Nationally-renowned organist Dave Calendine will also be on hand, tickling the ivories to produce some traditional hockey music which will serve as a fitting soundtrack as a pair of 84-year-old clubs square off for the first and only time this season.

The Motor City’s ‘Everything that Rocks’ radio station – 101 WRIF – will be hosting a fun-filled pre-game event on Monday (3–7 p.m. EST) at the Hockeytown Café in downtown Detroit. In addition to featuring a live broadcast as well as food and drink specials galore, interactive games and in-house ticket giveaways will be held to help fans get geared up for the impending battle between the Red Wings and Rangers .

At 5 p.m. EST Friday, fewer than 400 tickets remain available for Monday’s Upper Deck Original Six showdown at The Joe. Tickets to this and all upcoming Red Wings home games can be obtained by calling the JLA box office (313-395-7575) or by visiting DetroitRedWings.com.
