DETROIT -- The 11-time Stanley Cup champion Red Wings have punched their ticket to the second round of the 2011 NHL playoffs, defeating the Phoenix Coyotes in four straight games, of their Western Conference quarterfinals series. This is the 14th time the Red Wings have advanced to the second round of the postseason since their current playoff-appearance streak began back in 1991.

Tickets to the first three home games of Detroit’s upcoming second round playoff tilt versus a to-be-determined opponent will go on sale this Friday, April 22, at 12 p.m.EDT. At that time fans will be able to purchase up to four (4) tickets per game at the Joe Louis Arena box office as well as all TicketMaster locations, including the Hockeytown Café in Detroit and Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Mich. SELLOUT STREAK CONTINUES IN HOCKEYTOWN! The Red Wings’ opening round playoff victory over the Coyotes saw the club’s impressive streak of sellouts continue unabated, as both of Detroit’s home games in the series were played before a capacity crowd of 20,066 at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit has now sold out 25 consecutive games at JLA, a streak that began back on December 19th when the Red Wings battled the Dallas Stars. A total of 2,674,755 spectators have now attended an NHL post-season game at The Joe during the Red Wings’ franchise-record-tying 20 consecutive playoff appearances, the best such active streak in all of North American major professional sports.
