By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2010-11 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on goalie Joey MacDonald.


The number of goals MacDonald allowed against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on March 17, marking the second time in his career that he has recorded a shutout. The 31-year-old first blanked an NHL team during his tenure with the Islanders when he held the Red Wings scoreless in a 2-0 road win for New York on March 27, 2009.


MacDonald’s goals-against average for the season, the best mark of his NHL career.


The number of times MacDonald was recalled from and reassigned to Grand Rapids, the Red Wings' AHL affiliate. His final call-up coming on March 23, 2011.


The amount of victories MacDonald earned in net for the Griffins last season, extending his own franchise record for career wins to 98.


MacDonald’s ranking in save percentage (.917) amongst NHL goalies, who made at least 15 appearances in 2010-11.


The number of saves MacDonald made on 76 shots faced in five relief efforts (.974 SV%) for the Central Division champs.
