By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2010-11 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Brad Stuart.

Hits the 11-year veteran threw, leading all defensemen and third-best on the team overall only behind forwards Justin Abdelkader (188) and Johan Franzen (143).

Blocked shots had by Stuart, which was good for second on Wings’ roster behind Niklas Kronwall (129).

Games missed by the defenseman due to a broken jaw that he suffered Jan. 7 at Calgary from a cheap shot by Tom Kostopoulos.

Grabbed his 200th career assist against Anaheim in the season-opener, a 4-0 victory over the visiting Ducks. He assisted on Mike Modano’s first goal as a Red Wing.

Stuart posted a plus-4 rating, the first time he has been in the plus category for a full season since he has been with the Red Wings. He was a plus-6 in nine games when he joined the team at the 2008 trade deadline from Los Angeles.

Stuart was one of two Red Wings’ defensemen to record a short-handed point when he assisted on Darren Helm’s second-period goal in a 5-4 shoot-out loss to Phoenix on March 5. The other defenseman to record a short-handed point? Nicklas Lidstrom.
