Howard sits out Monday practice
Wings' goalie has bone bruise sustained Saturday
“Nothing major,” Howard said, “just took a shot off the inside. I tried to battle through it (Sunday), it was really uncomfortable, so they decided to keep me off the ice today and hopefully it bounces back so I can get back out there tomorrow.''
Howard said that he is day-to-day with a bone bruise.
“I plan on being out there tomorrow,” he said. “I got here early today, tried to get as much done as possible. It just didn't happen.''
Howard, 27, has been a workhorse since becoming the Wings’ No. 1 goaltender two seasons ago. In that time, he has started 126 games, posted a 74-22-15 record, and was a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year in 2009-10.
