Motor City Mitten Madness begins
Fans who donate can win autographed sticks at games on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5
Volunteers from the DRH Burn Center will collect adult and children’s winter clothing wear and monetary donations at each of the four entrances of Joe Louis Arena to make this holiday season a little warmer for area homeless shelters.
For every item donated or a monetary donation, fans will receive a raffle ticket and be entered to win an autographed, game-used Darren Helm stick on Thursday against Calgary or an autographed, game-used Tomas Holmstrom stick on Saturday against Anaheim. One winner will be announced at each game and fans must be present to win.
Fans are encouraged to bring clean, new or gently-used winter clothing articles such as gloves, mittens, scarves, socks, hats and blankets. All items collected this weekend will be distributed to Detroit area shelters to help prevent frostbite among the homeless, who are especially at risk of this preventable injury.
