Outage dampens Ducks, not Wings
ANAHEIM, Calif. – A 27-minute power outage at Honda Center put a damper on the first period for the home crowd Sunday night, but not for the Red Wings, who took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

It was the second time in less than a week that an outage disrupted a Ducks’ game at Honda Center.

The Wings were on their first power play of the game when the house lights flickered, and the giant scoreboard above center ice and the TV monitors in the press box and around the arena went blank with 13:47 left in the period.

After concurring with NHL off-ice officials, referees Kevin Pollack and Kyle Rehman sent both teams to their respective locker rooms to wait out the delay.

The start of the third period in last Thursday’s game against Los Angeles was delayed for approximately 15-minutes as arena officials dealt with an electrical problem, which they said was completely unrelated to Sunday’s issue.

Prior to the delay, the Wings grabbed a 1-0 lead when Henrik Zetterberg scored his first goal in seven games. The Wings’ center stole the puck from Ducks center Brandon McMillan in the low slot and lifted a back-hand shot that beat Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller high to the short side at 1:26.

Arena and City of Anaheim officials blamed Sunday's power outage on an "outside event caused by the weather conditions". Heavy rains were in the area when the outage occurred.
