Half of Brunno's wait is over
“You know, I would think that it doesn’t affect me, but maybe it does, somehow,” he said. “You know it’s a big thing in life so, yeah, I don’t know. I’m just trying to focus on the game when I’m here and when I go home I’ll focus on this.”
Brunnstrom is scheduled to play tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Joe Louis Arena. He’ll skate on the Wings’ forward line with forward Danny Cleary and center Darren Helm.
Brunnstrom replaces rookie center Cory Emmerton in tonight’s lineup, and Justin Abdelkader will play fourth line center.
“It’s going to be fun to play again, so I’m looking forward to it,” said Brunnstrom, who has an assist in four NHL games this season. “They’re both good players, but the fourth line players are pretty good too. Like I said, it’s going to be fun to play and I’m looking forward to the game.”
While traveling between Detroit and the team’s AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids hasn’t been easy, Brunnstrom has done his best to stay prepared when called upon.
“It’s important to play games,” he said. “When I’m here I’m trying to practice good and you know, like I said before, it’s a tough lineup to get into, so, it’s good to get into some games and (it’s) a lot of miles on the car though.”
