The Winged Wheel is going green
Sticking with the green theme, DTE Energy gave away 100 four-packs of tickets to ‘Going Green Night’ to fans who entered an energy efficiency awareness contest on the company’s Facebook page. The Wings then shared and promoted the contest on the largest social media network in the National Hockey League.
“The Red Wings have provided a unique forum for helping consumers take control of their energy use and save money,” said Kim Huffman of DTE Energy. “Programs like Going Green Night send a positive message in a fun and engaging way.”
The Wings will also utilize a special Going Green Night graphic as the primary image on its social networks on March 30. And special energy experts from DTE Energy will be on the arena concourse distributing free information on energy efficiency.
The Wings partnership resulted in DTE Energy winning the 2012 MEEA (Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance) Inspiring Efficiency Marketing Award. The award is given to companies who increase the adoption of energy efficient products and/or best practices in the midwest region. The club has worked with DTE Energy on several projects, including ‘Save Energy Suite Night’, and ‘Light the Lamp’, which included the installation of energy efficient goal lighting at Joe Louis Arena.
