DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings Experience will be a part of the 2012 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix when the event makes its much-anticipated return to the Motor City after a four-year hiatus this weekend. Set to be stationed at the Meijer Family Fun Zone, the Red Wings’ mobile entertainment complex will allow visitors the opportunity to test their hockey skills via interactive games such as the Top Shot Challenge while also trying out the latest edition of EA Sports’ popular NHL franchise at the Experience’s video game center.

Members of the Volunteer Energy Red Patrol will also be on hand at the Detroit River’s island park this weekend, distributing various giveaway items to event patrons. Furthermore, a miniature ball hockey rink will be erected and enter-to-win raffles will be held for Red Wings tickets, apparel and memorabilia.

Beginning with PNC Bank Free Prix Day on Friday, June 1 (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), and wrapping up with the IZOD IndyCar Series race on Sunday, June 3 (3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.), the 2012 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will feature a wide variety of activities in addition to the Firestone Indy Lights Race (Saturday, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.), the Cadillac V-Series Challenge presented by the Metro Detroit Cadillac Dealers (Saturday, 2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.), the Chevrolet GRAND-AM 200 presented by the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers (Saturday, 5:05 p.m. – 7:05 p.m.) and the Chevrolet Indy Grand Prix presented by shopautoweek.com (Sunday, 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.).
