Michigan Humane Society partners with Patrick Eaves and Red Wings
Fans encouraged to support Wings Team by donating or walking
PrintDETROIT – The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has partnered up with the Detroit Red Wings and team spokesman forward Patrick Eaves to promote their annual Mega March for Animals fundraiser. Thousands of pet lovers will attend the event, the largest walk for animals in Michigan, on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. in downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza and a new second location at Kensington Metropark.
“We’re incredibly excited to once again be partnering with Patrick Eaves and the Detroit Red Wings for the Mega March for Animals,” said Nicole Senczyszyn, Events Manager for MHS. “We are very grateful to the Detroit Red Wings organization, Patrick, and even his giant Newfoundland Rueben, for helping MHS change animal lives.”
Red Wings fans and MHS supporters can visit the Red Wings team page at www.DetroitRedWings.com/megamarch and sign up to raise money for either Eaves’ group the “Rueben Runners!” or the “Red Wings Mega Marchers” group. A donation of $156 changes the life of one animal in need, but no amount is too small and the Red Wings saw a lot of $17 donations last year in honor of Eaves’ jersey number.
“My three-year-old Newfoundland Rueben is a valuable member of our family and like a big brother to my daughters," Eaves said. "I partnered with the Michigan Humane Society and their Mega March for Animals event to help raise money so that other pets can get the proper care they deserve and the opportunity to join a loving family."
The five individuals who raise the most funds online between Monday, September 24, and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, for MHS’ Mega March for Animals will win a unique opportunity to attend a Red Wings practice, which is normally closed to the public, and meet a special Red Wings guest afterward at Joe Louis Arena. Each of the five winners will also be able to bring one guest.
As a flagship sponsor of the event, the Detroit Red Wings will have a special tent onsite to distribute promotional items to hockey fans and pet lovers alike, who can also enter to win Red Wings prizes. Fans are encouraged to join the Red Wings walking team by visiting their team page at www.DetroitRedWings.com/megamarch and walk at the Detroit location. More than 7,000 people attended the event last year.
