DETROIT – The National Hockey League has announced the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 1, affecting three Red Wings games, including a home contest against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 26.
This new round of cancelled games also affects three Wings' road games previously scheduled against Winnipeg (Oct. 27), Vancouver (Oct. 30) and Calgary (Nov. 1).
A total of 135 regular-season games were scheduled for the first three weeks (Oct. 11 through Nov. 1) of the NHL season.
The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a collective bargaining agreement between the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL.
