DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Gustavsson was assigned to Grand Rapids on Saturday on a conditioning loan and started for the Griffins in yesterday’s 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers, stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced. Detroit also announced that rookie goaltender Petr Mrazek has been reassigned to Grand Rapids. The 21-year-old netminder made 21 saves in Detroit’s 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild last night at Xcel Energy Center. Mrzaek posted a 1-1-0 record with a 2.02 goals-against average and .922 save percentage over his first two National Hockey League starts.

Gustavsson, 28, was signed by Detroit to a two-year contract on July 1, 2012. The Danderyd, Sweden, native has appeared in one game for the Red Wings this season, replacing starter Jimmy Howard in the third period of Detroit’s 6-0 season opening loss to the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 19 at Scottrade Center. Gustavsson faced eight shots and made seven saves in his Red Wings debut. The 6’3”, 192-lb. netminder has missed Detroit’s last 14 games recovering from a groin injury. He has posted a 39-45-15 record with a 2.98 goals-against average, .900 save percentage and five shutouts in 108 career NHL appearances with the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Detroit is currently in the middle of a two-game road trip that concludes tomorrow night when they take on the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena at 8:00 p.m. ET (Fox Sports Detroit and WXYT AM1270). The Red Wings’ next home game is Thursday, Feb. 21, when they clash with the Columbus Blue Jackets at Joe Louis Arena on Military Appreciation Night presented by Applebee’s. Tickets for Thursday’s game plus all 14 of Detroit’s remaining home games can be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets (1-800-745-3000), by calling 313-396-7575 or online at DetroitRedWings.com.
