Miami, Notre Dame, Western Michigan, Ohio State and Ferris State all received automatic byes to the conference quarter-finals by virtue of having finished in the Top 5 of the CCHA’s final regular season standings. The remaining six squads will look to advance by winning their upcoming best-of-three first round series: No. 10 Bowling Green at No. 8 Lake Superior, No. 11 Northern Michigan at No. 7 Michigan and No. 12 Michigan State at No. 6 Alaska.

“It’s going be another memorable March in the CCHA with two rounds of campus-site playoffs and, ultimately, four teams converging on Joe Louis Arena for the final CCHA Championship on March 23-24,” said CCHA Commissioner Fred Pletsch. “The conference has produced big-time players and big-time plays over the past 42 seasons. I invite all college hockey fans to The Joe to help us ‘Celebrate the Legacy’ and enjoy what will be an exciting and entertaining weekend of hockey.”

The CCHA launched a ’30-Day Countdown’ to the final CCHA Championship weekend at JLA on Saturday, March. 23. As part of the CCHA’s ‘Celebrate the Legacy’ initiative, each day a CCHA historical fact from the league’s 42-year history, along with an accompanying photo or video, will be featured on CCHA.com, the CCHA Twitter feed and Facebook page leading up to “1” on the day of the CCHA Championship final on Mar. 24.
