By the Numbers: Ian White
By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2013 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Ian White.

Had fourth-best plus-minus rating among the Red Wings' defensemen, trailing Jakub Kindl (15), Kyle Quincey (7) and Jonathan Ericsson (6).

He played in the fewest number of games in his last seven seasons. The latest time he played so few games was as a rookie, eight years ago, when he appeared in just 12 games for the Maple Leafs in the 2005-06 campaign.

Number of blocked shots that he had during the season, amounting to 1.28 blocks per game, which was second-highest on the team behind Niklas Kronwall, who registered 1.73 blocks per game.

Was a healthy scratch in 18 games, including the final nine contests of the regular season that he did not dress for. Only defenseman Kent Huskins (21) was listed as a healthy scratch more than White.

On two occasions, the veteran defenseman registered three shots in a game, and both times in a Red Wings' victory: 4-3 shootout win at CBJ (Jan. 21) and a 2-1 win vs. EDM (Feb. 9).

Number of games missed following surgery to repair the quadriceps muscle in his left leg after he had a chunk of flesh gouged by the heel of Jimmy Howard’s skate on Jan. 22.
