By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2013 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Jonathan Ericsson.


Number of points he had as the third-leading scorer among Red Wings' defensemen, finishing two-points shy of his career-high that he established in 2010-11.


Game-winning goal that he scored during the 2013 season, lifting the Red Wings to a 3-2 win over Los Ageles in exciting fashion. His winner came on a shot fom the point with 5-seconds left in regulation.


Led all Red Wings' defensemen in hits. He also finished second in hits (31) among all Wings in the postseason.


Number of shots blocked in the regular season for a 0.89 per game average, which represents his single-season career best.


Average shorthanded ice-time that led all Red Wings' penalty-killers during the season. Niklas Kronwall finished a distance second (2:38) in average shorthanded ice-time.


Playoff penalty minutes received. He was the last of the Red Wings' regular to find his way to the penalty box, drawing a hooking call against Chicago's Patrick Sharp in the third period of Game 7.
