By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2013 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Justin Abdelkader.

Number of goals scored to establish his new single-season career high, netting them all in the final 25 games of the season, including a hat trick in a 5-1 win at Anaheim on March 22.

Led all Red Wings in total number of hits for the third straight season. His 120 hits also ranked fifth in the Central Division, trailing only Nashville' Rich Clune (159), St. Louis's David Backes (158), Ryan Reaves (135), and Columbus's Derek MacKenzie (122).

Collected his first three-goal game of his career, netting the First Star of the game in a 5-1 win at Anaheim on March 22.He also assisted on Johan Franzen's third-period goal that finished the scoring.

The number of empty-net goals that he scored in a 3-0 win over Edmonton (Mar. 7) and a 3-0 victory at Nashville (Apr. 14). The two ENGs were the firsts of his six-season NHL career.

Number of games he played in, joining Niklas Kronwall, Daniel Cleary and Cory Emmerton, as the only Red Wings players to appear in every game last season.

Led all Red Wings, and finished ranked No. 10, in total hits during the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs. He also established a personal single-game high with nine hits in Game 7 against the Blackhawks.
