Detroit sends Glendening to Grand Rapids
Red Wings continue western Canada swing with Calgary on Friday, Edmonton on Saturday and Winnipeg on Monday

Glendening has appeared in six games with the Red Wings this season after his making his NHL debut on Oct. 12 versus Philadelphia. The 24-year-old forward has averaged 9:18 of ice time with Detroit, recording two penalty minutes and seven shots on goal. He’s also played in five games with Grand Rapids, registering three points (1-2-3) and a plus-three rating.
The Grand Rapids, Mich., native signed his first NHL contract with Detroit this summer after capturing the AHL’s Calder Cup as a first-year pro with the Griffins in 2012-13. He began the season with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, racking up 21 points (14-7-21) in 27 games before earning a promotion to the AHL. With his hometown team, he notched 26 points (8-18-26) in 51 regular-season games and 16 points (6-10-16) in 24 postseason contests. Glendening also played 165 games with the Michigan Wolverines from 2008-12, recording 70 points (31-39-70).
