DETROIT – The Red Wings will host their sixth annual Military Appreciation Night presented by Applebee’s on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when the team takes on the Winnipeg Jets at 7:30 p.m. (FOX Sports Detroit and AM 1270).
The first 7,500 fans can pick up a Red Wings military hat sporting a USO logo on the back by visiting the designated giveaway tables. Fans can purchase tickets to Military Appreciation Night through a special offer that includes a donation back to the USO and guarantees a Red Wings military hat at www.DetroitRedWings.com/military.
“We are excited to be a part of Military Appreciation Night with the Red Wings,” said Mark Schostak, whose family owns 65 Michigan Applebee’s locations, “and we are proud to continue to honor servicemen and servicewomen year-round with Military Monday, when veterans and active duty military will receive a 30-percent discount on their food purchases all day every Monday at Applebee’s.”
Volunteers from Blue Star Mothers of America Chapter 180 will be on hand to collect care package items and monetary donations at each entrance of Joe Louis Arena when the doors open at 6:00 p.m. For each item or cash donation to Blue Star Mothers of America, fans will be entered to win a Jimmy Howard autographed puck and photo.
Blue Star Mothers of America will include all items collected on Tuesday when they assemble the care package boxes the following week and ship them to soldiers currently serving overseas. All monetary donations from Tuesday’s game will help cover the cost of shipping the care packages.

Merchandise Fire Sale
Fans attending Tuesday’s game will have the unique opportunity to purchase autographed items from current and former Red Wings players at a team fire sale behind Section 126 on the concourse. Items range from hockey sticks autographed by Chris Osgood and Justin Abdelkader to pucks autographed by Nick Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg to 2012-13 team-signed jerseys. All of the proceeds raised from the fire sale will benefit the USO program, Operation Enduring Care, which helps the wounded, ill and injured troops and their families restore lives unraveled by war.

Fans are also encouraged to sign an eight-foot-wide banner behind Section 112 on the concourse Tuesday night.
