His fewest regulation losses suffered during a full NHL season since arriving in North America in 2009. Three of the losses came during 10-day span in December to Florida, Pittsburgh and Anaheim.

The average number of shots faced in 27 games played during the regular season. The most shots that he faced in a game this season was 40 in a 4-2 loss at Colorado Oct. 17; the fewest were 11 during a 3-1 win at New Jersey Dec. 6. Meanwhile, starter Jimmy Howard faced 29.1 shots per game during the regular season.

Equaled the fewest number of goals he allowed in a full NHL season. He surrendered the same number of goals while producing a 6-13-2 record for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2010-11. Allowed eight goals during a six-game span when he posted a 4-1-1 mark between 2 ½ week period from Nov. 24 and Dec. 12.

Games missed due to five separate injuries involving the groin, neck and shoulder during the 2013-14 regular season. He missed 18 games with groin problems (Oct. 2-10; Dec. 30-Jan. 20; March 9-18); three games with neck injury (Nov. 1-4); and two games with sore shoulder (April 11-13).

Games won in 27 starts as backup for the Red Wings. He won his first three starts in October and received the NHL’s First Star of the Week for those victories over Boston, Columbus and Colorado. Only Anaheim’s Frederik Andersen (20), Minnesota’s Josh Harding (18), St. Louis’ Brian Elliott (18), and Boston’s Chad Johnson (17) won more games with 27 or fewer starts during the 2013-14 campaign.

The number of goals that he surrendered on 22 shootout attempts for a .727 save percentage in the regular season. Gustavsson was 2-4 in shootouts with wins at Toronto on Dec. 21 and against Chicago on Jan. 22. Only Vancouver’s Eddie Lack (4-of-25) and Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury (5-of-28) allowed fewer shootout goals on 22 or more attempts in the skills competition.
