By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2013-14 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Tomas Tatar.

Goals scored in his first full season, which second most on team, behind Gustav Nyquist (28), dspite being a healthy scratch in eight of Detroit’s first nine games of the regular season. Tatar enjoyed a three-game goal scoring streak immediately following the Winter Classic producing a goal each at Dallas (Jan. 4), San Jose (Jan. 9) and Los Angeles (Jan. 11).

Plus/minus rating produced in 2013-14 season, which rated third best among Red Wings players. Only Henrik Zetterberg (19) and Nyquist (16) had better ratings. Tatar’s best single-season rating as a North American pro is plus-14, which he achieved during the 2010-11 AHL season with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Lead the Red Wings in shots on goal, which was the lowest total to lead a team in the league during the 2013-14 season. He averaged 2.16 SOG per game, his lowest per/game total since turning pro in 2009-10.

The number of three-game point streaks he had during the season, producing 11 goals and 21 points in 15 games. The Red Wings posted an 8-5-2 record during those games.

Number of takeaways that he had in the regular season, ranking second on the team behind Pavel Datsyuk (59), who missed 37 games with a knee injury.

Shootout goals, including two game-deciding goals – which led the Red Wings last season – in wins at Los Angeles (Jan. 18) and against Edmonton (Marc. 14).
