About the Detroit Red Wings Foundation

The Detroit Red Wings Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities, invests in the future of our community by providing funds and resources to worthy causes that contribute to the growth of the sport of hockey.

Red Wings players and staff participate in several fundraising events throughout the season including the annual Toast of Hockeytown Wine Tasting Gala, MotorCity Casino Hotel’s Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament and the Red Wings Foundation 50/50 Raffle Program. Through these initiatives, the Foundation raises over one-half million dollars annually for various organizations in our community.

The Foundation assists a wide variety of charitable activities and programs throughout Michigan and metro Detroit. Past grant recipients include: the Salvation Army STRIVE Hockey Program, the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association One Goal Program, YMCA, Macomb-Oakland Regional Center, The Variety FAR Conservatory, Gladwin Area Hockey Association and the MORC Stars.

Toast of Hockeytown

The 10th annual Toast of Hockeytown held on Dec. 15, sold out and raised over $160,000 for the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. The event, presented by Oakwood Healthcare, offered guests the opportunity to mingle with Red Wings players and alumni, while sampling great wine and food at Joe Louis Arena.

Highlights from the event included live entertainment by the nine-piece band Persuasion, the opportunity to bid on unique auction items, and a puck draw where one lucky guest won two tickets to an upcoming game and dinner with Red Wings vice president and hall of famer Steve Yzerman, and executive vice president and general manager Ken Holland.
