Red Wings in the Community

Recognizing our position as a community leader and role model, the Detroit Red Wings have created a pro-active community outreach program called the "Heart of Hockeytown." Through player appearances, team-sponsored events and other fund raising activities, the Red Wings help raise over one million dollars annually for various organizations in our community.

The primary objective of the "Heart of Hockeytown" is to satisfy the unique needs of our community as they relate to children and the disadvantaged in our area. Additionally, we will continue our efforts to assist charitable causes that are personal to the Red Wings' organization, including the fight against cancer, assisting Vladimir Konstantinov and Sergei Mnatsakanov, as well as the development of local youth hockey organizations.

Toast of Hockeytown

The Detroit Red Wings Foundation will host its 10th annual Toast of Hockeytown wine tasting on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena. Guests will have the opportunity to celebrate on the ice for an evening of sampling over 75 wines, live entertainment, a strolling buffet, great silent and live auctions and the chance to mingle with members of the current Red Wings team, alumni and other celebrities in attendance.

This year's holiday-themed gala is the perfect opportunity for any company to host its next corporate party. A limited number of tickets are now available at $200 per person. To purchase your tickets now, please click here.

Red Wings for Red Kettles returns

The Red Wings and the Salvation Army are joining forces in “Red Wings for Red Kettles”. The team will participate in a variety of activities to assist the Salvation Army during its annual holiday campaign. Executive Vice President and general manager Ken Holland serves as the honorary Red Kettle campaign chairman. This year’s goal is $8.5 million to sustain its annual services.

Red Wings Beard-A-Thon

Participants in the Red Wings' Beard-A-Thon can invite their friends, family and associates to pledge money for their playoff beard with the fan who raises the most money winning a team signed Red Wings Winter Classic jersey.

Fans who are unable to participate by growing a playoff beard can make a donation in support of a Red Wings' player or personality who is growing their playoff beard.

Wings tour Michigan with Stanley Cup

The drive to training camp in Traverse City had several detours for eight Wings as they took part in a mini-tour of Michigan.
