The Detroit Red Wings are offering exciting intern positions for both college students and recent graduates. Internet/New Media

Duties include, but are not limited to: Assisting in the updating and maintenance of DetroitRedWings.com and several other Olympia Entertainment web sites. Candidates should have a working Internet background with a strong knowledge of HTML and Adobe Photoshop. Strong written communication skills are also desired. Candidates must be available to work select days during the week and during all Red Wings games, both home and away.

Marketing

To assist in all areas of the Detroit Red Wings Marketing Department, which includes season tickets, public relations, community relations and group sales.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Event marketing for College Hockey at the Joe, including trade agreements, ad placement and promotions.
  • Organize and facilitate the Detroit Red Wings Street Hockey program: The Runnin' Red Wings.
  • Coordinate Red Wings game day activities. Includes giveaways, promotions, and entertainment for all home games.
  • Assist with promotions at Hockeytown Authentics and Hockeytown Café.
  • Organize existing files, answer phones and other administrative work.

Group Sales

This position includes the following responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate the Detroit Red Wings Youth Hockey Program including scheduling games, communication with teams, overseeing games.
  • Coordinate Red Wings and College Hockey at the Joe game day activities. Includes giveaways, promotions, and entertainment for all home games.
  • Assist in the selling of group tickets for all College Hockey at the Joe events. Includes grassroots marketing, contacting new groups, renewing ticket sales for existing clients, and creating new ideas to increase ticket sales.
  • Assist in the coordination of all group sales and marketing department events including Career Day, Alumni Games, Youth Hockey Tournaments, Coaching Clinics, Ice Rentals, etc.
  • Assist in the marketing of the Detroit Red Wings Youth Hockey Camp. Includes renewal mailings, developing creative materials, radio and TV drop-ins, etc.
  • Organize existing files, answer phones, and other administrative work.

Public Relations

Duties will include, but are not limited to: Assisting the public relations department in game-night tasks including preparation and distribution of media credentials, press notes, transcribing and distributing intermission interviews and various post-game activities including recording and transcribing of post-game quotes from opposing coaches and players. This is an unpaid internship.

Individuals must be able to work 4-11 p.m. on Red Wing home game nights.

Sophomore status or higher preferred.

Community Relations

Duties will include, but are not limited to: Maintaining daily newspaper clips, donation database for community relations, answering phones, assisting in community relations visits and other tasks as assigned by supervisor. This is an unpaid internship. Individuals must be able to work Monday-Friday, 9-5 p.m. and on Red Wings home game nights. Junior status or higher preferred.

Season Ticket Sales

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Help maintain existing databases, customer files, and sales leads.
  • Organize and maintain sales materials for the sales staff
  • Working game nights and special events at information kiosk.
  • Helping to promote College Hockey at "The Joe" on campus sites.
  • Will advance to: Taking phone calls, processing sales, servicing season ticket holders.

Candidate must be working towards or have received a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management or a related field. Candidate must be computer literate and able to handle a wide variety of tasks. Candidate must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed. Light travel is necessary.

Advertising Sales

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting the advertising sales team in the following facets of the sales process:
  • All facets of advertising inventory assessment
  • Meeting all print and artwork deadlines
  • Researching clients and prospects
  • Preparation and submission of presentations and proposals
  • All facets of client service, i.e., ticket submissions and fulfillment of merchandise requests
  • Service of clients during game night/arena visits and promotions
  • Game night presentation/promotional elements directly related to advertising sales clients

Suites Services

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Suites Department at Joe Louis Arena: answer incoming phone calls, assist all Suite Holders on special requests, update all information necessary, up-sell food and beverage items and take orders via phone, fax and e-mail, take ticket orders for suite passes, assist with beverage inventories and assist with event planning on the Suite level (prior to and during DRW games). Candidate should be working toward a degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or equivalent.
