Budd Lynch - Public Address
A mainstay on the Red Wings' staff, public address announcer Budd Lynch, 92 years-young, begins his 60th season with the organization. He began his Red Wings’ career on Nov. 5, 1949 as the team’s radio play-by-play announcer.
He attempted a retirement in 1975, but was brought back to the team by Alex Delvecchio as the director of publicity. A second retirement attempt in 1985 failed when Marian Ilitch asked Lynch to stay on at his current position of public address announcer.
Lynch was given the Ty Tyson Award for excellence in sports broadcasting by the DSBA in 2005.
