Attention High School Students:
Win a personal laptop and be recognized at a Red Wings home game!
Sign-up a group of your peers to serve your community!
The Detroit Red Wings/Fifth Third Bank S.H.O.T.S. program (Students Helping Others Through Service) is an initiative designed to encourage Southeast Michigan high school students (grades 9-12) to volunteer their time and efforts while making a positive impact on their communities. Teams of four to six students may register. No project too big or too small to enter!
How to participate*:
1. Form your team of four to six peers!
2. Collaborate and plan your projects, which may include:
o Volunteering at a local soup kitchen, animal shelter, or assisted living center;
o Organizing your class/school for a community service event;
o Painting a house for a needy family, cleaning up your street or park, or starting a canned food/clothing drive;
o Fundraising for a local charity by collecting returnable cans and bottles;
o Any other projects your team can put together for the greater good.
3. The sky is the limit with the S.H.O.T.S. program! Your team may complete as many (or as little) projects as you’d like: a three-month-long project, one project each month, multiple projects each month, or any other combination! Just be sure to submit information for each project’s outcome, which could include any photos, videos, website links, presentations, or other materials to show the impact your team made on the community.
4. To compete for the monthly prizes, projects must be submitted online:
o December 31 before 5 p.m. EST for December projects
o January 31 before 5 p.m. EST for January projects
o February 28 before 5 p.m. EST for February projects
5. The winning monthly teams will be announced about a week after project submission.
