RED WINGS FAN DAY AT THE JOE
SET TO BE STAGED ON MARCH 11
Fun-Filled Event Presented in
Partnership with Meijer and Coca-Cola
Hockey Hall of Fame scheduled
to display some of the NHL's top trophies
The Detroit Red Wings, Coca-Cola and Meijer have teamed up to present the 2012 edition of Fan Day at Joe Louis Arena, scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 11 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Fans from all over came out to a line-up of local Meijer visits to claim their free tickets along with special appearances from Darren McCarty and Joe Kocur. Now that the tickets are all handed out, it's time for a fun-filled Fan Day at the Joe. This year’s event will feature photo opportunities with the Red Wings’ 2008 Stanley Cup championship banner as Red Wings zamboni, autographs from members of the Red Wings Alumni Association, multiple interactive hockey zones, an open skate on the main ice surface at JLA (must bring your own ice skates) and a wide variety of prizes and promotions for fans of all ages. The Hockey Hall of Fame will also be in attendance with a wide variety of Red Wings hockey memorabilia including four of the league's premier trophies:Presidents' Trophy - Awarded to the team that finishes with the most points (i.e. best record) in the league during the regular season.
The Red Wings have won this trophy 6 times, more than any other team in the NHL (most recently in the 2007-08 season).
Frank J Selke Trophy - Awarded to the forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game.

James Norris Memorial Trophy - Awarded to the league's top defensive player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.

Hart Memorial Trophy - Award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team.
