School Assembly Program
In 2010, the Foundation launched its signature program, the Detroit Red Wings School Youth Hockey Program, a street and floor hockey initiative in which the Wings provide equipment and hands-on instruction to local elementary schools. In partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Kroger Company of Michigan, the Wings visited one hundred elementary schools throughout Michigan during the 2011-12 season. Each school received two full sets of floor hockey equipment complete with hockey sticks and nets to encourage students to stay active and healthy through the sport of hockey.
The Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation will fund 115 school visits during the 2012-13 season!
