Center Ron Hudson played briefly with the Detroit Red Wings in the 30s and 40s. He was better known as a reliable performer in the minors and at the senior level.

The Calgary native ventured to the Atlantic provinces to play senior hockey with the Truro Bearcats, Charlottetown Abegweits, and the Halifax Wolverines. In 1935-36 he turned pro with the Detroit Olympics of the IAHL before spending a year with the Pittsburgh Hornets in the inaugural season of the American Hockey League.

During the 1937-38 season, Hudson played 32 games for the Wings on a line with Hec Kilrea and former playoff hero Mud Bruneteau. He was eventually returned to the minors where he remained save for a one game recall in 1939-40. Hudson was a 20-goal scorer with the AHL's Indianapolis Capitals and the Omaha Knights of the AHA. In 1940-41, he was named to the AHA first all-star team after registering league high 52 points in 47 games. After spending two years serving his country during World War II, Hudson returned to play 22 games for the St. Louis Flyers of the AHL before retiring in 1945.
