Walt Buswell
Defenseman
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 170
Shoots: Left
Born: Nov 6, 1907
Birthplace: Montreal, QC, Canada
Acquired: NHL rights transferred to Detroit from Chicago (AHA) after AHA club owners purchased Detroit (NHL and IAHL) franchises on September 2, 1932.
Defenseman Walt Buswell played nearly 400 NHL games in 1930s and '40s. He was known for looking after matters in his own zone responsibly while joining in on the occasional offensive foray.

The Montreal native played for the city's CPR club in 1939-40 before joining the St. Francis Xavier Seniors the next season. After playing for the AHA's Chicago Shamrocks in 1931-32, he became a regular on the Detroit Red Wings' blueline. He spent two more years in Motown before joining the Montreal Canadiens in 1935-36.

Buswell played his best hockey during his five years with the Habs. He participated in the Howie Morenz Memorial Game in 1937 and benefit match for Babe Siebert two years later. One of the most reliable players in the league, Buswell missed only 14 games during his eight big league seasons. He retired in 1941 after playing a year with the Joliette Cyclones of the Quebec Provincial League.
