Bissett played four years with the Huskies, gradually improving on his point totals each year. The conclusion of his senior year in 1988-89 he turned pro and suited up for five games with the Adirondack Red Wings of the AHL, having been selected by the Detroit Red Wings 211th overall in the 1986 NHL entry draft.
It was not until the 1990-91 campaign that Bissett got the opportunity to play in the NHL, dressing for five games with the Red Wings. In the fall of 1991 Bissett ventured off to Europe where he played a decade of hockey in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Finland.
