Acquired: Traded to Detroit by Boston with Ed Sandford, Real Chevrefils, Gilles Boisvert and Warren Godfrey for Terry Sawchuk, Vic Stasiuk, Marcel Bonin and Lorne Davis on June 3, 1955.
Born in Toronto, Ontario on August 15th, 1931 Norm Corcoran played parts of five seasons in the National Hockey League. Corcoran, a forward who played both right wing and center played just four regular season and four playoff games with the Boston Bruins between the 1949-50 season and the 1954-55 campaign before he was involved in a blockbuster trade consummated between the Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings that involved Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk. Corcoran was headed to Detroit in the nine-player trade but he suited up for just two games for the Red Wings spending 35 games in the minors. Though the Red Wings Stanley Cup victory in 1955 meant that Corcoran was involved in the 1955 NHL All-Star Game.

He finally got an opportunity to play more then a handful of games when he was claimed on waivers by the Chicago Black Hawks in January of 1956.

With Chicago Corcoran played 23 games and scored 1 goal and added 2 assists. It was his last season in the NHL, though he played several more years in the minors. Corcoran's career extended for ten more years spent mostly in the American Hockey League.

Norm Corcoran retired following the 1965-66 season, a year he spent with the Buffalo Bisons.
