Born in Port Arthur, Ontario on August 22, 1909, Daley was toiling in the Northern Michigan Hockey League when his rights were sold to the NHL's Detroit Cougars on February 23, 1929.

Daley played five games for the Cougars without scoring a point. He also suited up for two playoff games for Detroit, but again was held scoreless.

Daley's career in the NHL was over, but he had many more years of hockey left in him. Daley began a seven-year stay in the International-American Hockey League in 1929. His best season came in 1935-36 when he led the league in assists (for the second year in a row) and also captured the scoring championship with 53 points in 48 games.

Daley spent seven more seasons in minor pro, including parts of five seasons in Seattle before retiring from the game in 1945.
