Center Lloyd Doran played 24 games with the Detroit Red Wings in 1946-47. He was a decent playmaker who enjoyed success in the minors and as an amateur.

Born in South Porcupine, Ontario, Doran played junior hockey with the Dome Pokies of the NOHA in 1940-41. The next year he joined the Wings as a free agent and was assigned to the Omaha Knights of the AHA. During World War II he played for the Montreal and Kingston Army teams before spending two years in military service.

After the war, Doran scored three goals in 24 NHL games for Detroit in 1946-47 and was often teamed with Gerry Couture and Fern Gauthier. He returned to the minors and was a useful player for a few years in the AHL. His best year was 1948-49 when he notched 55 assists for the St. Louis Flyers. Doran retired in 1951 after splitting the year between the AHL and USHL.
